How We Helped
Through CrispX, David and his partners, Matthew Wilson and Courtney Werning, implemented comprehensive frameworks that evolved every aspect of their firm.
He Discovered What Leadership Actually Means
After working with his CrispX coaches, David learned that true leadership means empowering others to lead alongside him.
“I want the legacy of Dave Meyer to be that he cared deeply about the success of those around him,” David says. “And you can’t just walk around saying that without meaning it. The Crisp team is going to hold you accountable. They’re going to call out the bullshit. If you say it and you don’t actually act toward it, they’re going to call you on it. And that’s just fantastic.”
This forced David to confront what he wanted for his legacy — not just what he thought it should be. The result was a fundamental shift in how he approached leadership.
He Built a Scalable Leadership Structure
With his new partners, David built a leadership team with clear vision, defined roles, and accountability systems. The shift allowed Meyer Wilson Werning to scale in ways that would have been impossible during the firm’s founder-driven days. David learned to empower his team and create a firm that can grow far beyond what one person could accomplish.
“I think 100% of the items I wanted to do, I’ve done,” David reflects. “All the goals and objectives that I’ve set out over the last six years with Crisp, I’ve either done it or I’m well on my way to doing it.”
Patrick McEuen, now the firm’s head of operations, was a key hire early in his engagement with Crisp. In Patrick, David finally had a smart, capable tech-first and systems-minded operator who understood how to derive real value from the systems and software David had invested in. “Before Patrick, I just bought systems and software tools because that’s what I thought bigger firms did to scale,” David explains. “We had so much unused and underutilized junk that we were paying good money for and getting minimal value from in return. Patrick cleaned all of that up and got us using the systems that actually work and provide real value.”
He Elevated the Client Experience from Good to Exceptional
Investment fraud and class-action clients can feel lost in complex systems designed to intimidate and confuse them. Navigating complex FINRA arbitrations and class actions is overwhelming, which is why Meyer Wilson Werning always guided clients through these processes. But through CrispX, they elevated that commitment in a systematic way.
The firm implemented structured touchpoints throughout the client journey, ensuring every client feels informed, valued, and supported from initial contact through final resolution and beyond. These aren’t generic check-ins but personalized communications addressing each client’s specific concerns.
David and his team invested heavily in client education, developing resources and communication strategies that demystify complex financial instruments and regulatory frameworks.
“We want our clients to understand what’s happening in their case,” David says. “An informed client is an empowered client, and an empowered client trusts us to fight for them.”
The firm also implemented feedback loops, gathering detailed client feedback after case resolutions about what worked well and what could improve. This commitment to continuous improvement ensures each client benefits from lessons learned from previous cases.
He Expanded the Firm’s Community Impact
David is building the same legacy of community service his father modeled, but the CrispX community challenged him to think bigger about his potential impact.
Through their work in investment fraud, TCPA violations, and data breach cases, Meyer Wilson Werning holds powerful corporations accountable and drives systemic change. Every case they win sends a message that misconduct has consequences.
“We’re not just recovering money for our clients,” David says. “We’re fighting for justice. We’re making sure that the people who were wronged get to see the wrongdoers held accountable.”
Beyond the courtroom, the firm established scholarship programs for students pursuing careers in law and justice and launched community legal education initiatives to help people understand their rights and protect themselves from financial fraud.
“Crisp inspired us to think bigger,” David says. “We were always doing good work for our clients, but we realized we could have an even greater impact in our community if we were more intentional about it.”
He Built a Culture Aligned with His True Values
David learned through the PRINT assessment that his primary motivation is happiness and fulfillment. But he didn’t truly understand what that meant when it came to building a firm until he went through the comprehensive assessments and coaching provided through CrispX.
“That is totally me,” he says. “And it’s cool to know that because it helps us understand why we do what we do and how I can build the infrastructure and the support and the team around me to fulfill what I want to do.”
This self-awareness allowed David to intentionally create a culture aligned with his values. Meyer Wilson Werning became a firm where people genuinely enjoy coming to work, team members support each other’s growth, and success is celebrated collectively.
The firm implemented structured hiring processes to bring in people aligned with their mission, comprehensive onboarding that immerses new team members in the culture from day one, and professional development opportunities to help team members level up.
“It’s so much fun to do great work for your clients, to have people you work with who you love, to have a strong family unit, to have such strong friends in the community,” David reflects. “It’s just really wonderful, and I don’t take it for granted. I appreciate it all the time.”
Where They Are Today
Meyer Wilson Werning is no longer a founder-driven firm; it’s a sustainable business built to last.
The firm operates from offices across the country, representing investors and consumers nationwide. They handle financial advisor misconduct cases, consumer class actions, data breach cases, and mass torts. With the highest peer ratings from Martindale-Hubbell, recognition as “Best Law Firm” by U.S. News and World Report, and inclusion in Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers, they boast an excellent reputation.
Additionally, Meyer Wilson Werning earned the CrispX Firm of the Year at the 2025 Crisp Game Changer Awards!
But the deeper transformation goes beyond accolades. David has built something that will outlast him, a firm with strong leadership, exceptional client service, meaningful community impact, and a culture that attracts talented people who love their work.
“We’re cruising now. Everything’s going really, really well,” David says. “So, why can’t we just keep going? Let’s just help more people. Let’s educate more people. Let’s see further growth and success for my partners and everyone on my team. Let’s just keep doing this. Let’s do it for another 30 years.”
David Meyer is building the legacy his father showed him was possible: a practice where pride in the work and service to the community create a life worth living. But unlike his father’s founder-driven practice, David is building something designed to last far beyond his own tenure: a firm where multiple leaders can carry that legacy forward.
“I want to be 80 years old like my father and say that I’m still proud and happy and fulfilled,” David says. “We’re lucky to be in a position where we can do this. And I’m grateful for everything I have and the people I have around me.”
