Leading Through Adversity: Michael Mogill + Greening Law

3 minutes to read

A little hard work never hurt anybody, right? Attorney Craig Greening certainly doesn’t think so.

He recently sat down with Crisp Founder & CEO Michael Mogill to share how Greening Law has hustled during this time of uncertainty to ultimately come out stronger on the other side.

0:21 – Move business forward. “We’ve been restructuring our business, implementing new core values, and doubling down on marketing. We saw that a lot of other competitors were going fishing and off on vacations, so we saw it as an opportunity to get advertising out there, help our community, and move our business forward during the pandemic.”

3:47 – Helping the community. “We were all scared, and being scared meant asking, ‘What do we do? Do we quit or do we keep going?’ That’s where that hustle aspect came in. Let’s get out there. I was giving out face masks to police officers, and I’m normally crushing them on the witness stand. They were a little apprehensive. They were like, ‘Why are you giving us face masks? Why are you doing this for us?’ They asked the governor for face masks and couldn’t get them. I had access to it through one of my clients and we got them for them. It’s just getting out there and finding things to do — staying relevant and getting out in the community.”

5:00 – Expand the business. “We’re going to come out the other side of this. In January, we started a business process of expanding and growing our business. It’s scary spending more money on marketing and hiring new people during a pandemic. People thought I was crazy. But you know what happened? We’re hiring an intake marketing director, and we’ve got better candidates now than we’ve ever had. We put a hold on it to wait and see what came in, and in the last four weeks we’re getting these impeccable candidates.”

5:42 – We are committed. “Even when you’re at your darkest, lowest point as a team and as a firm, you’ve got to come together and you’ve got to be prepared to come out the other side. This thing’s not going to last forever. We decided as a team that we were going to get up every morning and we were going to go on Zoom calls. We wanted to come together and hold each other accountable. Everybody came together and were committed to this.”

7:26 – Double down on marketing. “We’re going to come back strong. When everybody was shutting down their SEO and their ads on Facebook and Instagram, we doubled down, and we spent more money. We got ourselves out there. We shot a new commercial and put it on social media. When we gave the face masks away, the news did a piece on it, and we actually got 4,000 likes on Facebook and 300 shares. We’ve never gotten that kind of response on social media. The video that you did for us recently, we’ve gotten so much traction on that. Just telling everybody we’re here and we’re still working.”
