Sharing to Twitter: How to Link Your Video
3 minutes to read
Twitter boasts a whopping 48.35 million active monthly users in the US, and 80% of all Twitter users are affluent Millennials. There’s no doubt that your ideal client can be found on the platform, so we’re sharing several quick tips and strategies to use when sharing your videos on Twitter.
Like Facebook, you can natively upload videos to Twitter so they autoplay in users’ timelines. This is a useful feature if you have engaging content, as the viewer will see your video begin to play without having to click on it.
Upload to Twitter Step-by-Step
- Click the compose tweet button.
- Write an engaging caption to go along with your video.
- Click add media, choose your video file, and click add. Note: Maximum file size is 512MB.
- Click the video once it’s inserted into the post to edit. Here, you can trim the length of your selected video. Note: Maximum video length is 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
- Click trim when you’re finished with your edits.
- Add relevant, industry-related hashtags for more exposure.
- Click Tweet to share your video.
Your video is uploaded and available for viewers!
We recommend creating a comprehensive social media strategy for your firm to increase engagement online and really drive conversions from your content. When managed well, social media can create explosive growth for your firm.

Sharing YouTube Links
Outside of native uploads, if your goal is driving video views through your YouTube channel, here are some quick tips for sharing YouTube links.
- Under the YouTube video you want to use, click the share button.
- Copy the link, or click the Twitter icon.
- If you copy the link, head over to Twitter and click the compose tweet button, then paste the link directly into the tweet. If you click the Twitter icon, it will open automatically to a new tweet with the link. Note: using the link directly from YouTube ensures that the video thumbnail is included in each tweet.
- Write an engaging caption to go along with your video.
- We recommend not using a social media scheduling service for sharing YouTube videos to Twitter (Hubspot, Buffer, MeetEdgar, HootSuite, etc.) or the thumbnails may not display correctly.
- Add relevant, industry-related hashtags for more exposure.
- Click Tweet to share your video.
Here is an example of the type of video we might share on Twitter from YouTube: a brand video for one of our clients, The Derrick Law Firm.
Whether sharing your videos natively to Twitter or sharing a YouTube link, adding video to your legal marketing strategy is a great way to boost your brand.
