About the Crisp Experience MVP Challenge

For the past year, hundreds of Crisp Experience members competed in challenges that pushed them to grow, step out of their comfort zone, and document their progress throughout 2023.

Each month, challenge participants focused on a specific topic area to impact the firm as a result of what principles they’ve learned from Crisp. They documented their improvement strategies, personal goal achievements, and set professional milestones to accomplish.

Member law firms reap the rewards of investing in their A-players with Crisp Experience — but we wanted to reward them too for their commitment to growth and their progress in the Crisp Experience program.

So we decided to give away an all-expenses paid vacation worth up to $7,500.

We looked at each game changer’s dedication to their role, how well they performed in key program elements, and the growth they achieved both personally and professionally. Their challenges and level of engagement were taken into account, and from this, we determined who would rise to the top. In the end, we crowned our MVP…

Mitzi Pullum of Rice & Kendig

When Rice & Kendig in Shreveport, Louisiana needed someone to help lead their firm into its next chapter, they didn’t have to look far — they called Mitzi.

After working with the firm from 2014 to 2017, Mitzi left when her family moved out of state. Years later, in 2021, one of the founders reached out with an offer to return in a fully remote role from Georgia. She said yes, and today, she serves as Director of Legal Services for the 30+ person firm.

Her role spans operations, HR, and legal services leadership. She built the firm’s HR department from scratch, implemented structured one-on-ones, tracks KPIs and morale, and holds the team accountable to policies and core values, all while helping guide big-picture initiatives like a new office building and bilingual department.

Mitzi credits the Crisp Experience with giving her the tools and confidence to rise to the challenge. She began with the Operational Expertise Pathway before advancing into Leadership Development, where she found practical strategies that immediately impacted her work.

“I really appreciated being able to lean into Crisp for resources — I don’t have to do all the research on my own,” Mitzi explains. “Networking with other firms has been huge too. Seeing how they use tools differently and learning from that has been invaluable.”

As her leadership has grown, so has her courage in tackling the hard conversations. From enforcing accountability to creating transparent spaces for her team, Mitzi approaches every interaction with the same mindset: growth and greatness.

“I don’t want to just call people out, I want to call them up into greatness,” she shares.

It hasn’t always been easy, but Mitzi’s commitment to leading with trust, consistency, and vision has transformed Rice & Kendig in just a few short years — and she knows this is only the beginning.

“Growth is scary, but the systems we’re putting in place now will carry us to the next level,” she says.
