The Crisp Culture: What You Can Expect Working for the Nation’s Fastest-Growing Law Firm Growth Company

5 minutes to read

In recent years, as Crisp has grown to secure several spots on the Inc. 500, Inc. 5000, Atlanta’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies, and Best Places to Work lists, we’ve become increasingly known for our company culture.

Sure, when you work here, you enjoy plenty of beneficial perks (travel opportunities and casual dress code are a couple big ones). Yet our culture is more defined by the values we share than all the extra amenities we enjoy.

You see, we work hard at Crisp — extremely hard. The typical 9-to-5 workday doesn’t fit our schedule.

The truth is, we put in long hours because we’re driven by lofty goals. In fact, these goals are often so outrageous (e.g., create and sell out the world’s largest law firm growth conference in just 8 months) that we don’t always know how we’ll reach them.

We do, however, know that when we push ourselves beyond what we think is possible, we always reach higher levels of achievement.

Which begs the question…

How often do you push yourself beyond your self-imposed limits?

When you’re part of the Crisp team, you not only test your capabilities daily — you consistently go after new goals (and get rewarded for your efforts).

In order to make this happen, we rely on 7 core values:

1. Solution Focused

When problems come up, it’s easy to focus on the negative aspects of these issues. Our team, instead, seeks solutions and identifies the actions needed to keep moving forward.

This requires you to always be proactive and come to the table with proposed answers to your own questions.

2. Better Than Yesterday

If you can’t commit to being better today than yesterday, you’re okay with being average. After all, taking the same actions each day doesn’t deliver improved results.

We believe true growth requires always moving to higher levels of discomfort. So we’re always evolving — both as a team and as individuals — especially as it relates to helping our clients reach their goals.

3. Results Driven, Not Effort Driven

While effort is a key to success, it’s not a substitute for tangible results. You see, achieving results at the highest level isn’t just a matter of trying harder. You must take the right action. Take the wrong one and you can accelerate failure, regardless of how much effort you put forth.

At the end of the day, we look at what tangible results were achieved. Hours and effort are secondary to the outcome and its impact on a need or problem.

4. Take Ownership

To truly engage in your work, you must own it. Hold yourself accountable for quality and timeliness, even when the outcome doesn’t bring you direct benefits.

At Crisp, when we put something out into the world, we’re proud to have our name on it.

Of course, this ownership applies to mistakes, too. So when a misstep happens, you must take responsibility and resolve the situation without passing blame on others.

5. Team First

We can’t continue our growth without a strong and supportive team. When it comes to goals, decisions, and late nights, our team takes priority over all else. After all, the only way we can accomplish our goals is by working as a dedicated team.

As NBA Hall of Fame coach Phil Jackson said, “The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.”

6. Consistency

The single ingredient shared at the highest levels of achievement is consistency. You must be willing to take repeated actions and adjust them based on feedback.

After all, the best results come from incremental progress and improvements over an extended period of time.

7. Vested in Client Success

Crisp’s clients are at the heart of what we do. Their success feeds our success. So, in multiple ways, we’re invested in their lives and businesses.

Our job is to share their stories. You can only do this well when you get to know and care about the people behind each law firm. This requires lots of listening and using all aspects of the team (creative, marketing, sales, project management, etc.) to create a meaningful client experience.

Bottom Line

Although we have an incredibly talented team at Crisp, there’s nothing complicated about our culture. We’re simply on a constant push to achieve more, while putting our clients at the center of everything we do.
