Show Notes:
Your ego is the source of most unnecessary pain. Cy Wakeman explains that suffering doesn’t stem from circumstances — it’s the ego that makes us miserable. “Suffering is often self-imposed. It’s definitely the work of the ego.”
Stress isn’t reality — it’s the story you’re telling yourself. The way we interpret life events has more impact than the events themselves. “Our stress comes from this story we make up about our reality.”
When you’re overwhelmed, clarity starts with one question. Cy shares how she breaks free from spiraling thoughts by grounding herself in truth. “The first question I use a lot is what do I know for sure? And that question is all about helping me break the trance I’m in with my ego.”
Gratitude isn’t about what you liked — it’s about what grew you. True gratitude, she says, isn’t just a list of your favorite moments. “True gratitude is when I can count everything in my day as a blessing.”
‘And’ is a superpower that changes everything. Instead of either/or thinking, Cy challenges us to expand what’s possible. “My true goal is enjoying my life. So I’ve used the word ‘and’ to grow things beyond the limited situation I’m presented with.”
