Potential is only valuable when the person believes in it too. “You can want things for people, but they have to want it for themselves.”
Standards beat potential every time. “If you have a standard and it’s not being met, then to me potential is secondary.”
Decisions made from emotion rarely age well; use the facts. “I keep these notes on my phone… I will make this decision by this date, and if these objective criteria aren’t met, it’s not going to be a good fit.”
Growth has a ceiling, and that is not a failure. “Not everything has never-ending growth, no matter what, for however long.”
Leaders can open the door, but they can’t make people walk through it. “I can outline a path. I could help you, but you’ve got to be an active participant in this.”
