Episode 383 — AMMA — Why Comfort Will Quietly Destroy Your Law Firm
If everything feels “fine” at your firm, you might already be in trouble.
In this episode of The Game Changing Attorney Podcast, Michael and Jessica Mogill tackle the quiet killer of growth: comfort. As we hit the halfway point of the year, many law firm owners start to coast — but that’s exactly when progress stalls. If your firm feels like it’s plateauing, your goals are slipping, or your team’s feedback just isn’t landing, this conversation will help you reset, refocus, and move forward with intention.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- Why waiting for the perfect time to restart is keeping you stuck right where you are
- How comfort creates blind spots that slowly stall your law firm’s growth
- What it takes to deliver feedback that inspires real change without sacrificing standards
Comfort is the enemy of progress. This episode is your wake-up call to get back in the cold plunge and keep pushing forward.

Show Notes:
Comfort is the most dangerous place to be. “Everybody agrees with everything. Things are fine. But the comfort zone is where momentum dies — and where law firms slowly start to decline.”
You don’t need a new year to start again. “There’s no rule that says you have to start a habit on January 1. You can pick up the pieces and restart right after listening to this episode.”
The hardest feedback to hear is usually the most useful. “Feedback from high-accountability people is gold. But if you’re only listening to the most comfortable voices, you’re going to stay stuck.”
Apathy is the final warning sign. “If you’re no longer giving feedback, you’ve already checked out. That’s when it’s too late — and the damage has already been done.”
You don’t grow in the Jacuzzi. “Everyone wants the warm, comfortable choice. But real growth happens in the cold plunge — when you chase discomfort on purpose.”
