Episode 373 — AMMA — Your Firm’s Biggest Threat: Too Many Good Ideas

In this episode of The Game Changing Attorney Podcast, Michael Mogill shares personal stories and answers listener questions about tough decisions, team feedback, and betting big on your vision. From a solo weekend with his kids to making high-stakes calls at work, Michael pulls back the curtain on how he thinks through pressure, risk, and long-term impact.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- Why speed and decisiveness are only advantages when paired with execution
- How to weigh input from others — and still make the final call yourself
- What it takes to scale sustainably without losing your mind

Show Notes:
Decisions get heavier the higher you go. “If there was a clear right answer, then everybody would want the job. But nobody wants the job now.”
Not all upside is worth the distraction. “If you feel like it’s going to be a distraction out in front, reevaluate.”
Speed without execution is just chaos. “Just because you make a decision doesn’t automatically make it a successful decision.”
Thinking big isn’t the problem — execution is. “The problem was… you make the bet without also thinking about how do we execute on this bet.”
You don’t need to do everything at once. “You could do five things at the exact same time… but it doesn’t guarantee that all five are going to be executed to the standard that needs to be executed.”
Listen to your team — but don’t outsource your vision. “You make the decision. Don’t let somebody else make that decision for you.”
Your job is to ensure stability, not approval. “My priority is not to make any one individual happy. My priority is not to essentially have a 100% approval rating.”
