Episode 363 — AMMA — How to Master Decision-Making Like a Pro

Show Notes:
Navigating tough decisions. “You’re going to be in situations where there’s just not a right answer. If you’re between a rock and a hard place, you just have to make a decision. You don’t know the outcome — nobody does. But when you’re a leader, people are counting on you to choose. That’s what makes you valuable: not knowing the perfect decision, but being willing to make one and own it.”
Using strategic time to unlock leverage. “The question I always ask in my strategic thinking time is: What is the one thing that, if solved, makes everything else easier? I block that time out every week — it’s sacred. You come into it with clarity and you come out with answers. Sometimes it’s meditation, sometimes it’s brainstorming, but it’s always focused on solving the right problems.”
The secret to consistent habits. “I have a rule: I never miss twice. If I miss a workout, I don’t let it roll into a second day. Once you lower your standard, the habit breaks. But if you protect your standards, momentum builds. Stack your habits early in the day before life gets in the way — and respect the promises you make to yourself.”
Engineering discipline through your environment. “I don’t think most people struggle with discipline — I think they struggle with environment. If you want to eat better, plan your meals ahead. If you want to work out, do it first thing. Wear the same clothes, reduce decisions, cut friction. The fewer choices you have to make, the easier it becomes to stay on track.”
Identity-driven leadership. “Eventually, it’s not about the habit — it’s about who you are. You become the person who sleeps consistently, works out daily, prioritizes learning, and thinks like a CEO. Once it’s your identity, it doesn’t take willpower anymore. It’s just what you do.”
